½ Cup Crisco 1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Egg ¼ Cup Buttermilk
2 Cups Self- Rising Flour ½ tsp. Salt
1 Cup Chopped Pecans or Walnuts 1 Cup Dates, chopped
1 Cup Candied Cherries
- Mix Crisco, Brown Sugar, and egg together.
- Add Buttermilk.
- Sift dry ingredients together and add to other mixture.
- Add pecans, cherries, and dates.
- Chill dough for 1 hour.
- Drop by teaspoon full onto lightly greased baking sheet.
- Top each cookie with a pecan and half a cherry.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes @ 375
- Makes about 4 dozen cookies
