½ cup butter, softened (4 oz.)
¼ cup sugar
1 egg yolk, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
½ tsp. salt
1 egg white, unbeaten
1 cup chopped nuts
· Cream together butter and sugar.
· Beat in egg yolk and vanilla
· Blend in flour and salt, sifted together
· Shape into 1-inch balls.
· Dip each ball into egg white; roll in nuts.
· Place on un-greased baking sheet.
· Dent center of each ball.
· Bake for 5 minutes at 350.
· Remove from oven and dent again.
· Bake 12-15 additional minutes.
· Cool
· Fill with tinted butter frosting.
· Makes about 3 dozen.
FROSTING
Combine 2 cups sifted confectioner’s sugar, 6 tablespoons melted butter, 1 tablespoon cream and ½ tsp. vanilla.
Mix well, tint with food coloring.
