Red Velvet Cake (RIck Corvin)

½ cup Crisco                                                      1 Tbsp. Vinegar
2 Eggs                                                               1 Tbsp. Vanilla
1 ½ Cup Sugar                                                    2 Tbsp. Cocoa
2 oz. Red cake Coloring                                        1 tsp. Soda
½ tsp. Salt                                                         1 Cup Buttermilk
2 ¼ Cup Flour

·        Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs.
·        Mix cocoa in measuring cup with red cake coloring, add vanilla.
·        Add to shortening mixture above.
·        Put buttermilk in measuring cup, stir to make sure you get the entire coloring. Add flour and salt with buttermilk- beat well, and then fold in soda and vinegar.
·        Bake at 300 for 20 – 30 minutes in two layer pans.

ICING:
2 Sticks Butter (not margarine)                      1 tsp. Vanilla
1 Cup Sugar                                                2 Tbsp. Cornstarch
1 Cup Water

·        Cream butter, vanilla and sugar, Mix till fluffy
·        Cook cornstarch and water until thick.
·        ALLOW TO COOL
·        Add to the creamy base.
·        Beat well and put on the cake layers.
