Apple Fritters (Mom)

1 Egg                                                                             
½ Cup Milk
1 Tablespoon Crisco – melted                                         
1 cup diced apples
1 cup sifted self-rising flour                                              
1 Tablespoon sugar
Crisco – for deep frying

  • Beat egg with milk, stir in the melted Crisco, then the fruit.
  • Combine the dry ingredients, add to egg mixture and stir until just mixed
  • Drop from tablespoon into deep Crisco (heated to 375)
  • Fry about 4 minutes or until golden brown and done in the center.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Roll in confectioner’s sugar if desired – serve warm.
